On Wednesday night, The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY, hosted the collaborative “Phil-O-Ween” concert featuring a headlining performance from Phil Lesh and Twiddle (appropriately dubbed Phiddle), plus sets from Lesh and The Terrapin Family Band and GEM, featuring Twiddle frontman Mihali Savoulidis and TFB’s Grahame Lesh and Elliott Peck.
GEM opened the night—with Savoulidis dressed as Tom Hank’s Forrest Gump, Grahame as Will Ferrell’s Jackie Moon (from Semi-Pro) and Peck donning a pair of devil horns—kicking off their set with two songs from Midnight North, the Bay Area band that also features Grahame and Peck. First up was “Under the Lights,” followed by the Peck-led “Greene County,” which featured guest violinist Jason Crosby. Next up were the elder Lesh and frequent collaborators The Terrapin Family Band, who opened their segment of the show with a couple Dead tunes, “New Minglewood Blues” and “Sugar Magnolia,” bookending a Phil Lesh-led cover of Robbie Robertson’s “Broken Arrow.”
