The Grateful Dead and Quicksilver Messenger Service had just played the Fillmore together, (June 3-4), and so they played consecutive weekends for Bill Graham and then Chet Helms (June 10-11). The bands generally preferred playing the Avalon, but made more money at the Fillmore. This poster was created by Wes Wilson and is listed as FD-12 in Eric King’s poster guide.

This poster was created to promote a pair of concerts, presented by the Family Dog at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, on November 4 & 5, 1966. These seminal shows featured performances by the Grateful Dead and Oxford Circle. This cool, psychedelic poster, commonly known as Logo, was designed by Stanley Mouse along with the late Alton Kelley and is designated FD-33-OP-1 in the Eric King Guide.
